A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel to Tulum, Mexico to document Stacy & Will's wedding on a Thursday afternoon on the beach. I've been sitting on this blog all week because I couldn't figure out how to put in words how I feel about Stacy & Will and this beautiful trip we all got to experience. I am so grateful for this opportunity to document these two exchanging vows, taking tequila shots with all their lovely friends & family who all took a week off from their lives to come and celebrate these two gems, watching Will and Stacy smash so much cake in each others faces and Stacy, sweet sweet Stacy, laughing so hard about the amount of cake that is in her hair. So much love, so many drinks and dancing in the sand on a Thursday evening was a beautiful thing to document and experience, thank you Stacy and Will for having me be apart of this epic week. 
I love when I come home from a session and Luke asks me how it goes and my answer is “ah, so good, this couple is amazing and I want to be their friends” Chelly and Mark was exactly that. It was honestly hard to stop having a conversation and take photographs because they have such interesting lives and I wanted to hear more about Mark's travels and Chelly's time in the Peace Corps. I also love that I get some many couples who love to travel, travel is such an important part of my life and getting to connect with other people who feel the same is so great. Chelly and Mark were in town for the holidays for they both live and work in D.C, with their flight the next day we were lucky to get a nice day for a winter session (nice in Madison in January is 40 degrees). We met for tea at Lakeside Coffee, and went for a walk on the frozen lake. These two will be exchanging vows next fall at Tenney Park and I'm looking forward to spending more time with them.
November 5th an abnormally warm day in Wisconsin and I got to spend it in my favorite little town, Spring Green with two of the loveliest people and their friends and family. Sara and Allen had a beautiful day, starting at the church and ending at the river for the traditional marshmallow roasting ceremony ... The best.
I met Elaine and Dan at a wedding I shot this summer, Elaine was the Maid of Honor and killed it at her speech and was a joy to be around , so when she emailed me about shooting her wedding I was excited to get to know her and Dan better and hang out with them on their wedding day. These two own a home together in Milwaukee so I met them in their city and spent a lovely fall day with them.
Halloween weekend, perfectly fall, beautiful city and one of the loveliest couples -- October 29th, 2015 was a wonderful day for Eric and Casey and I am so happy I was there to document them looking their finest and celebrating their love.
A few Sundays back I met up with Rachel & Dave for a little engagement session. I met these two this summer at a wedding I was photographing and I'm so glad I had the chance to document these two!
I genuinely love my job and enjoy documenting two people who love each other exchange vows in front of their loved ones. I am thankful for the couples who give me full creative freedom, who trust me to document them as them and Adam and Rob did just that. On October 22nd, 2016 I got to document Adam and Rob get ready in their amazing apartment, walk around the grounds in which they live as well as were getting married in, then exchange their vows in a perfect chapel by a wonderful woman who spoke of love and community and made basically everyone cry followed by a celebration of all things Adam and Rob -- It was a perfect day to be apart of as well as photograph. Adam and Rob, I love you both, I am so beyond happy that you two have found each other and thank you for asking me to document your wedding.
I've always wanted to shoot an engagement session at Devil's Lake so I was so happy when I suggested it to Maggie & Tim and they were into it. I like these two, I met Maggie for coffee to discuss their wedding and just to get to know each other before they booked me and it was one of my longer coffee meetings - which is my favorite - I love to connect, it's how I can photography they way I photograph. Our session was fun, these two are lovely and I can't wait to document them again next September.
A few years ago I photographed the Kovacic family, at the time their youngest, Mike was just born - a few weeks ago I got to go back to their lovely home and photograph them again. I love getting the chance to grow with families, and document their ages as they continue to grow up - this family was lovely to work with.
A few weeks ago I went into the city to meet up with Jes and Jimmy in their neighborhood for a little engagement session. These two will be getting married next May in the city where they met, fell in love and share a space with along with their two dogs - which is the whole reason these two met in the first place - these two met at a dog park, which is basically perfect. We started our session at their favorite bar called Villains for a drink then picked up their pups for a little walk to the nearby park - a perfect day in Chicago.
A few weeks back I went and spent a morning over at the Lang family house, as Eric hand grinds our coffee, Sarah comforts their new baby girl, Elsie - followed by the two of them prepping a meal together as they pass their daughter between them, both easily getting distracted by her perfection as a baby. These two, their home, their life and their family are all wonderful, being able to document a typical morning together has been something I've wanted to do ever since I met these two a few years back, and I finally got to be that fly on the wall with a camera...
I get to photograph these two getting married in a few weeks so a couple Mondays back I drove out to the beautiful Spring Green and met them at their home and spend some time with them.
A few weeks ago I met up with Katie and Dan at Indian Lake Park, I have lived in Madison for the last 10 years and I have never been to this beautiful space and I'm so glad we got to spend some time hanging out here -- even though we did get eaten alive by mosquitos! These two are adorable, these two will be getting married next September and it's going to be a good one.
On September 17th, 2016 after over 10 years together, Crystal & Scott decided to celebrate where they have been and where they are going together as well as a family with Scott's daughter Ashley. I had the pleasure of being by Crystal's side documenting all of the little moments with her friends and her comfort plate ( :) ) and I had lovely help from the wonderful Andrea Paradowski the whole day. Beautiful venue, the perfect weather and a wonderful group of people supporting these two beautiful people.
A day surrounding the important things in life - love, family and community. Mark and Annie decided to get married in the backyard of Annie's grandparents who are no longer with us but the way their family honored them throughout the day was beautiful. Annie's Grandpa wrote her a letter for her to open on her wedding day, Annie's family wore pink to honor their Grandpa who wore pink often. Following the ceremony their family and friends walked the 4 blocks over to Annie's Parents home where they had a meal and an epic dance party. This day was a good one not only to attend but to document, watching the love these families have for each other and the support they have for Mark and Annie. When Annie would start to cry, the way Mark would smile and put his hand on her back for comfort. It was a good day.
A small gathering of close family and friends gathered on the rooftop of The Edgewater on a Saturday afternoon in August to witness Andrea and Jeff exchange their vows and although it looked like rain, the view was too beautiful to not risk getting a little wet. Following this beautiful ceremony (and the rain waited until we were all finished and inside) these two had their reception at The Bos Meadery with Underground catering one of the best meals we all ever had. A perfect day to celebrate a wonderful couple.
I have known Kacey and Rob for over 12 years - we all grew up in the Fox Valley and I loved the band that Rob was in back in the day, I went to just about every show. So when these two emailed me about shooting their wedding I knew it would not only be a wonderful one to document but a reunion of old show going kids from the Valley. This day was perfect, these two were so wonderful to work with, and the love these two have for each other is such a beautiful thing to witness - I cried at so many moments because I am just so happy these two have each other.
I met Christine 2 years ago at a photography workshop in California when we were all walking back to our cabins in the dark, we shared a flashlight - small world when we both realized we were from Wisconsin. From that point we started an online friendship, passed weddings back and forth when the other one wasn't available. So when her and Justin made the move to Madison, I was excited to have them here! When we planned to do a shoot we decided the best way to welcome these two to Madison is to do a little walking around this lovely little place they now call home -- plus they are both super cute and fun.
Madison is filled with wonderful people and Jenny & Bobby are two of those gems. I had the chance to meet these two last summer for coffee to chat wedding and then again at their dear friends Maddie and Bret's wedding (another pair of wonderful people) and we all hit it off - So when these two wanted me to document their day, I got really excited. These two were so much fun during their engagement session last fall and since then I couldn't wait to be apart of their day. Their wedding was wonderful, I think I cried a total of 10 times, these two are so filled with love for each other and their family and friends are all so wonderful and supportive and really fun people. If I could, I would do this day all over again because it was really just a perfect day. 
My new favorite thing is brunch weddings! Chris and Kathryn got married in the Olbrich Gardens at 10am followed by amazing breakfast food, coffee and Bloody Mary's -- a perfect way to start a Saturday!
